The
IDBE program at Cambridge draws together individuals from all built
environment disciplines. Participants are encouraged to explore pressing
issues, crossing the boundaries of conventional disciplines. As a specialist
Fire Engineer the course has been tremendous: it has enabled me to further
my career through developing new perspectives and fresh insights into
building design. I also now work more effectively and productively in terms
of time, efficiency, design and cost. The enhanced knowledge of
interdisciplinary design and cross-disciplinary thinking means I can wear
many hats, contributing from a much broader base which has allowed me to
take a position of influence and leadership within the design team. I am now
better able to communicate effectively and make informed decisions. The
course has equipped me to resolve potential conflicts in aspiration and
design. Overall completing the course has made me a stronger consultant and
enabled me to direct my career in the way I wish – It’s been hard work but
a brilliant experience!
